Lesesne Residence

Lesesne Residence

Description

This house is not simply about stylistic effect but about execution at multiple scales. Its success depends on the alignment of design intent with craftsmanship: siding and trim installed with tight tolerances, rooflines framed to maintain symmetry, and interior finishes coordinated to avoid visual disruptions. The detailing demands accuracy.

Full Project Overview

The façade is organized with apparent symmetry, anchored by a central entry and flanked by evenly spaced fenestration. The dormers above are correctly scaled, tying the roofline into the vertical rhythm of the elevation. The use of lap siding over a raised foundation not only gives the home a clean aesthetic but also offers durability in a humid Southern climate. The roof features extended eaves with exposed rafter tails—a detail that, while decorative, requires careful coordination between framing and finish carpentry.

The home’s multiple porches are not simply appendages but carefully integrated transitional spaces. The screened rear porch, featuring beadboard ceilings, suggests thoughtful attention to proportion and airflow—both critical for comfort in warm climates.

Inside, the layout strikes a balance between openness and definition. Sliding barn doors, while stylistically rustic, also present a builder’s challenge: ensuring proper alignment, smooth rolling hardware, and long-term durability given their weight. The trim work—crown moldings, baseboards, and window casings—follows a consistent vocabulary, reinforcing the home’s cohesion.

The bathrooms showcase precision tile work and frameless glass installations, both of which require meticulous substrate preparation and leveling. Built-in cabinetry is tailored to fit, with recessed panels and quality paint finishes that suggest a custom millwork package rather than off-the-shelf solutions.
